QMS Day of Truth & Reconciliation – Wednesday, April 25th

Please join us on Wednesday, April 25, for our QMS Day of Truth and Reconciliation.  The goal of the day is to raise awareness for both staff and students about the history of Aboriginal peoples and their survival of the Residential School experience.  Furthermore, the intent is to highlight Aboriginal culture and worldviews, with the hope of moving us on a path of reconciliation, healing, appreciation and respect.

The day will begin with a morning assembly (in the gym), where our presenter Brad Marsden will go through a role-play simulation with our students.  Mr. Marsden will create a context for students to reflect upon the history and struggle of Aboriginal peoples, beginning with colonization, up to the end of the residential school system.  Parents are more than welcome to join us for our morning assembly which will begin at 9:00.

After the morning assembly, there will be various workshops and presentation happening throughout the day in different rooms in the school; whereby individual teachers can take their classes.
